Server

My server is built with two criterias

  1. Stability
  2. Minimize power consumption

The system is built upon a aopen i915gmm-hfs mainboard paired with a 1.6GHz Pentium-M cpu. Being a mobile CPU, the pentium-m clocks down to 600Mhz and lowers the voltage, when the power isn’t needed. At that speed/voltage the cpu consumes around 6Watt.

The system is built upon a ASUS A8N CSM mainboard paried with a 3200+ AMD Athlon 64 CPU. It violates point number 2. above, but this is only a temporary solution until I can get my hands on some cheap, effecient hardware with low power consumption. An intel atom board with a non 945 chipset (nvidia ion?) or an arm based cpu with a good chipset (nvidia tegra?). Should have atleast 4 sata connectors though.

The system is built upon an Intel D945GCLF2 mainboard with an dual core atom chip. Each core is capable of hyperthreading, yielding 4 threads of execution. A nifty fact about this mainboard is, that the chipset (945) consumes more power than the cpu itself. Anyhow it is still a quite lowpower setup.
